The Sagitine Method: Seasonal Changeover

Twice a year, as the seasons shift, I reset my wardrobe.

It’s something I really look forward to and love doing. Revisiting pieces and the memories that come with them, and deciding what I’ll wear in the months ahead.

Before After

I keep it simple and follow three steps every time.

1. Clean.

I start by making sure everything is clean before it’s put away.

Mostly the pieces from the season just gone, but I also check anything coming out hasn’t picked up a mark. This step also includes getting anything repaired.

2. Sort.

I do this part a little differently to the advice you’ve heard before - I sort everything into FIVE clear categories. More details in a sec.

3. Store.

Only one category goes back into my wardrobe. The other 4 are stored.

The five categories I use to give me space in my wardrobe (without throwing anything away).

1. Pieces I love that I’ll wear in the next 6 months

These are my core seasonal pieces and all the ones I’m excited to wear again.

2. Pieces that aren’t me right now

For some reason, I’m not into stripes on me at the moment. I love them, I’m just not feeling it when I put them on. But I know their time will come again, so I don’t want to get rid of them. These are the pieces I keep, just stored properly, waiting.

This category changed everything for me. It gave me permission to keep the things I used to cull and always regret.

3. Pieces I love that are off-season

My last season pieces, now cleaned or repaired and ready to be put away.

4. Pieces I may never wear again

I have cocktail dresses from my 20’s. Earrings I found in Port de Sóller. A blue leather jacket from Istanbul. I’m fairly certain I won’t wear them again, but I love them for what they hold. I still enjoy seeing them during a changeover. And one day, my daughter (or her friends) might love them too.

These pieces deserve care, not a bin bag.

5. Uncomfortable or ill-fitting

Everyone has some of these. It’s fine.

Take another look, maybe it’s time to pass them on. But if you’re not ready, no pressure. Store them and revisit next season.

Storing everything properly

This is where it all comes together.

Once everything is sorted, I store the four categories I’m not using.

This is where Sagitine comes in for me.

The pieces I’m wearing go straight back into my wardrobe — hung or in easy-to-reach drawers.

The pieces that aren’t me right now stay close by. I usually keep these in a cupboard in a Sagitine Storage Box, so they’re easy to come back to when I’m ready.

My off-season pieces, and the ones I may never wear again, get packed away properly in Sagitine Storage Boxes. I keep these in wardrobes that are out of the way — some right at the top, some in the spare room.

And then there’s the final category. The pieces that no longer fit or can’t be repaired. These are the only ones I let go of — and even then, slowly.

Over time, I’ve found I wear more of what I own, buy more thoughtfully, and end up letting go of less and less.

FAQs

Are the Boxes really made of paper?

Yes. Sagitine Boxes are crafted from recycled, dense hard card and hand-wrapped in our signature paper for a refined, luxury finish.

Compared to plastic, this material allows significantly more airflow and reduces trapped moisture. Helping to limit the chance of mould.

Are the Boxes durable?

Absolutely. I’ve had most of mine for over six years and use them every day.

They’re made from a dense, hard-card structure that holds its shape over time. My five-year-old has used them as stepping stones, and they’ve handled it, although I wouldn’t recommend jumping on them.

Like any considered material, they just need a bit of care. They shouldn’t be exposed to water, and like a beautiful book or artwork, they can fade over time if left in direct sunlight.

How do Sagitine Boxes protect your pieces?

They’re designed with a close fit to help minimise dust and prevent damage while your pieces are stored.

Each Box has an outer casing with an inner box that slides inside. That close fit helps limit everyday household dust.

How do the Stands and Boxes work together?

The Stands act as a structured racking system, with each Box sitting neatly in place like a shelf.

Because everything is modular, you can easily move, reorganise, or swap things around as your wardrobe changes, without disrupting the whole setup.

It keeps everything contained, accessible, and simple to maintain. Protected and organised. Adding a Stand really elevates the whole experience, turning your storage into something that’s easy to use, and beautiful to live with.

How long does shipping take?

We usually dispatch within 5 business days.

From there, most orders arrive within 7–14 business days, depending on where you are in Australia. Most rural areas and WA and SA can take longer due to the size of the Boxes.

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your order is on its way. And if you ever need to delay shipping or have any questions along the way, you’re always welcome to reach out atinfo@sagitine.com.
