The Sagitine Method: Seasonal Changeover
Twice a year, as the seasons shift, I reset my wardrobe.
It’s something I really look forward to and love doing. Revisiting pieces and the memories that come with them, and deciding what I’ll wear in the months ahead.

I keep it simple and follow three steps every time.
1. Clean.
I start by making sure everything is clean before it’s put away.
Mostly the pieces from the season just gone, but I also check anything coming out hasn’t picked up a mark. This step also includes getting anything repaired.
2. Sort.
I do this part a little differently to the advice you’ve heard before - I sort everything into FIVE clear categories. More details in a sec.
3. Store.
Only one category goes back into my wardrobe. The other 4 are stored.
The five categories I use to give me space in my wardrobe (without throwing anything away).
1. Pieces I love that I’ll wear in the next 6 months
These are my core seasonal pieces and all the ones I’m excited to wear again.
2. Pieces that aren’t me right now
For some reason, I’m not into stripes on me at the moment. I love them, I’m just not feeling it when I put them on. But I know their time will come again, so I don’t want to get rid of them. These are the pieces I keep, just stored properly, waiting.
This category changed everything for me. It gave me permission to keep the things I used to cull and always regret.
3. Pieces I love that are off-season
My last season pieces, now cleaned or repaired and ready to be put away.
4. Pieces I may never wear again
I have cocktail dresses from my 20’s. Earrings I found in Port de Sóller. A blue leather jacket from Istanbul. I’m fairly certain I won’t wear them again, but I love them for what they hold. I still enjoy seeing them during a changeover. And one day, my daughter (or her friends) might love them too.
These pieces deserve care, not a bin bag.
5. Uncomfortable or ill-fitting
Everyone has some of these. It’s fine.
Take another look, maybe it’s time to pass them on. But if you’re not ready, no pressure. Store them and revisit next season.
Storing everything properly
This is where it all comes together.
Once everything is sorted, I store the four categories I’m not using.
This is where Sagitine comes in for me.
The pieces I’m wearing go straight back into my wardrobe — hung or in easy-to-reach drawers.
The pieces that aren’t me right now stay close by. I usually keep these in a cupboard in a Sagitine Storage Box, so they’re easy to come back to when I’m ready.
My off-season pieces, and the ones I may never wear again, get packed away properly in Sagitine Storage Boxes. I keep these in wardrobes that are out of the way — some right at the top, some in the spare room.
And then there’s the final category. The pieces that no longer fit or can’t be repaired. These are the only ones I let go of — and even then, slowly.
Over time, I’ve found I wear more of what I own, buy more thoughtfully, and end up letting go of less and less.
